Lorayne B. Losch, L.C.S.W.
M.S.W.—New York University—-Licensed in N.Y.S.
I maintain a psychotherapy practice on the Upper Westside of Manhattan, near Lincoln Center, treating adolescents, adults, couples and families. My area of specialty is working with adopted persons, and pre–adoptive and adoptive parents and I have had extensive training in adoption issues. I help parents explore the option of open adoption, when that is feasible. Other areas of focus are helping singles and couples decide whether adoption is the right choice, and working with adoptive parents about discussing adoption with their children, as well as dealing with their own feelings about it, so as to be more comfortable and effective in these conversations.
Additionally, I am a consultant for the Ametz Adoption Program of the J.C.C.A., for whom I lead three monthly parenting groups; Pre–Adoptive, Post–Adoptive for parents, and an Adoptive Family Group during which I lead a discussion for parents while both adopted children and non–adopted siblings participate in adoption–related activities with another professional. All groups welcome new members.
